Creating fantasy marble finishes.Creating fantasy marble finishes can be the perfect fit for an installaion that requires that it pick-up colors of its surroundings or just want a finish that combines the characteristics of more than one type of marble.Even though this is a fantasy finish .. you should still have a good grounding of what marbles "do" and what they "don't do". Most all marbles have a flow or direction of movement to them. Your fantasy marble should also have this same movement. When veining marble you want to watch making "Y"s ... although there is an exception to this rule.... you generally want to stay away from creating too many of these "Y"s. "X"s are also something you want to watch out for. Keep them at a minimum and your marble won't look so contrived. Any time you're creating a drift ... try and give it purpouse or a life of its own. Why is it there and where is it going. This is always in the back of my head when I'm creating a marble finish. Ofcourse you're beaking rules with this fantasy finish .... just try and give it reason for being the way that you create it. Have fun with it and it will show in the final finish.
